Located at the discharge end of the fuel injection pump (directly above the barrel and plunger), the delivery valve plays a fundamental role in hydraulic pressure management. It opens under high pressure to allow fuel to flow to the injector and closes instantly when the pump stroke ends. This action prevents fuel from flowing backward into the pump element and regulates the line pressure for the next injection cycle.
